Summary
The Cell Therapy Specialist requires specialized training in aseptic processing, as well as manual/automated cell processing. Knowledge of cell processing, enrichment, cryopreservation, and flow cytometry. Ability to document in adherence with GMP guidelines.

Education
Bachelor's degree with Health Sciences or recognized equivalent. Minimum of (2) years’ experience with cell processing. Minimum (2) years’ experience in flow cytometry and cell culture. Minimum 2 years’ experience in cleanroom environment (ISO 7 suite).
Responsibilities
- Participate in process development and training
- Adhere to GMP/GDP/GTP guidelines.
- Work in cleanroom (ISO7) environement
- Perform flow cytometry (Cytoflex) to assess cell count/viability
- Perform isolation of HSCs, NK, and T-cells by using CliniMACS Prodigy
- Cryopreserve leukopaks and other cell therapy products
- Performs calculations during processing to assess product yields
- Uses aseptic techniques while performing cell processing procedures
- Investigate and resolves problems with procedures or processes
- Perform validation processes on new instruments and equipment
- Perform sterility and environmental monitoring testing with QC specialist
- Work closely with QC specialists and QA department
- Maintains open communications with Cell Processing Supervisor to coordinate, schedule, and perform processing of cellular products
- Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, comprehensive, and maintained.
- Collects and labels required laboratory samples and create and maintains accurate and complete result reports, processing worksheets, and cryopreservation records.
- Performs quality control and preventative maintenance on instruments and equipment and maintains complete and accurate records.
- Practices proper safety techniques and reports any unsafe conditions to management.
- Other duties and procedures as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Experience in cGMP snd cGTP requirements highly preferred.
- Experience in cellular therapy products.
- Experience in flow cytometry assays and interpretations preferred.
- Knowledge of sterile techniques required for cellular therapy product handling and manipulation.
- Knowledge of the use of liquid nitrogen, to provide a safe, compliant, and cost-effective cryogenic environment.
- Experience with microbiological testing preferred
- Demonstrate the ability to perform standard data analysis and calculations
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize required duties and responsibilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and within teams.
- Time management skills.
- Flexibility to adjust to changes in schedules, working hours, and procedures. Position may require extended hours at intervals.
- Ability to work in highly stressful situations.
- Travel as needed to attend relevant industry conferences to meet continuing education requirements.
Physical Demands
This position requires work inside a cleanroom laboratory (ISO7), walking, standing, stooping, lifting, and using tools requiring high dexterity. Occasional lifting of objects weighing in excess of 20 pounds. Travel may also be required. Exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous chemical and materials, needle sticks, blood and body fluids.
